Florida construction worker fell and died in a work accident

People in Florida who work in the construction industry invariably take a significant amount of pride in helping to create something from nothing and watching as their role in a project helps it come to life. However, these jobs also carry with them a certain amount of inherent danger. Those who have a loved one working construction will dread receiving the phone call that their loved one died in a work accident. Unfortunately, this type of thing does happens and those affected need to know what to do in its aftermath.

According to a recent article, a 50-year-old man working on the construction of a condominium was killed when he fell off a scaffolding. The incident occurred at around 9:15 a.m. He had been working on the third floor scaffolding when the accident happened. He was rushed to the hospital and later died. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is conducting an investigation into the accident and the project has been stopped. It is not known how the man fell, but there are reports that video evidence from the previous day showed workers not using safety equipment when working on balconies.

Employers are responsible for providing for employees' safety. If there was an accident while a person was working, the family could be confronted with massive medical expenses for treatment, the loss of income from the worker, a loss of companionship and other problems. With a fatality, they will need to pay for funeral expenses and figure out how they are going to move forward financially and emotionally after the tragedy. Employers will often try to offer some form of settlement to avoid having to pay full death benefits or face a costly legal filing.

In this incident, a man fell to his death from a scaffolding as he worked on the construction of a building. An understated factor after the fatality is making ends meet and being able to survive without a breadwinner. This is when it is important to consider a wrongful death legal action. Although the OSHA investigation is still ongoing, the man's family needs to look out for its own interests.
